ABOUT US
We're the Microbial Health Clinic
For over 50 years, our infectious diseases clinic has focused on curing primary and recurrent Clostridium difficile (rCDI) infections, antibiotic resistant organisms and extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacterial infections by developing therapies for microbiota transfer and manipulation, and pharmakinetics to restore it to a functional state. These infections are mainly hospital-acquired, but may be present in the community.

What is the gut microbiome?
The gut microbiome is gaining more recognition to have an impact on health within the past 20 years. Considering that there are more microorganisms, that consists of bacteria, viruses and parasites, in the gut than body cells, researchers are trying to understand their effect on the human body.
What is Clostridium difficile?
Clostridium difficile, or C. diff for short, is an gut bacteria that can cause severe diarrhea and could possibly lead to, severe inflammation of the intestines, called megatoxic colon, then perforation, and possibly death. Hundreds of people are diagnosed with C. diff a month.

Antibiotic Resistant bacteria
Bacteria resistant to our discovered drugs is an emergent concern by the World Health Organization.
